Nokia Aeon concept phone
The Nokia Aeon concept was somehow inspired by Synaptics Onyx. The full surface touchscreen display phone concept is indeed cool and tempting but who knows? Nokia is tight-lipped to make any comments on the phone.
Black Box Concept Phone
The looks of this concept phone from BenQ-Seimens are alluring enough to turn your head
Onyx Concept Phone
I hope you haven’t forgotten the Onyx concept phone- first keyless touch-screen mobile phone utilizing Synaptics’ Clearpad transparent touch-sensitive capacitive sensor.
BenQSiemens Snake phone
I am just thinking of how to operate this snaky phone. The concept phone looks like a snake and you can wrap it around your wrist.
CUin5 Concept Cellphone
CUin5 mobile phone is inspired by the big firm’s designs of a ’super-practical’ interface with the all-too-typical feature set. Every face of the phone carries a keypad, microphone, and speaker. The part you touch first gets active while all other edges are in lock mode.
Bracelet Phone with Built-in MP3 Player
When this Bracelet phone receives any message, it starts vibrating and making or receiving a phone call is just too easy. To read the message, take the bracelet out of your wrist and press the diamond-like keystroke.
Mac Funamizu Designs the Minority Report “Cobalto” Phone
Futuristic phones are back… from the future! Courtesy of Mac Funamizu, the Cobalto concept phone from Minority Report is now rendered in the following images. You’ve got to love that transparent glass display and the deformable metal parts, that allow you to use either usual numeric keys, or an iPod-like dial.
Mac Funamizu goes even further and envisions his concept featuring 3D holography and being able to created 3D objects in thin air. The designer also created a PC with the same Minority Report concept, but more on that in another article.
For now, we’re stunned by the Cobalto phone, looking so slick and glossy that it could slip one’s hands for good. What features would you add to it?
Dial Phone Design is Fashionable, Luxurious
Looking for a hot fashion phone? Jung Dae Hoon created the Dial Phone, reminding us of the round dials on old communication devices through its circular design. The device can be considered a fashion accessory and it’ll be crafted using the metal of the owner’s choice.
Nokia Unik Phone Features a Very Customizable Back Side
Designer Clement Logereau created a pretty interesting Nokia concept phone, dubbed Unik. This is a fashion handset with a back side made out of 152 customizable small squares, that can be switched to create new models, with different colors and materials (metal, transparent components, rubber and more).
This can be called “an artistic cellphone”, since Nokia Unik lets you play with its looks and I have to say that this concept reminds me a lot of a similar ideabearing the Benq Siemens branding.
I can see that major trendy brands like D&G, Mini, Diesel or Nike will have their own parts available for Unik.
RFR iPhone Next Design Changes its Size, Integrates Transparent Display
Designer Fabio Merzari has recently showed the world his iPhone concept, that allows the users to change its dimensions by either opening or closing it. Known as the RFR iPhone Next, this device is a next-gen handset that uses a transparent display.
The phone’s screen is made out of two OLED screens that include memory shape alloy, that’s able to roll within the case, once the handset is closed. If you touch the display, you’ll notice a multi-layer effect as the icons show up on the screen. Multi colored illumination will adjust to the lighting conditions, for easier access to the device’s features.
RFR iPhone Next’s body is finished in aluminum and we learn that the concept features an impressive amount of memory, 128GB and also includes a 5 megapixel Ichat camera.
OLPC XO-3 is the Cheapest Tablet PC Ever
The One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) initiative is expanding and after the first model was made available on the market, as the XO-1 with a $100 price tag, we skip right to the XO-3, a mere concept for now. What happened to the XO-2? The project was canned, it seems.
The OLPC XO-3 is similar to the original model, but it’s more of a tablet than a regular laptop. What’s really impressive is that designer Yves Behar hopes that this OLPC concept will be available for as low as $75, an incredible price tag for any PC.
XO-3 features an 8.5 x 11 touchscreen, a folding ring in the corner for better grip, a camera at the back and it supports induction charging. This is quite a slim device, its waistline being half the one of an iPhone. Also, we learn that this is a multitouch tablet, that will become real in 2012.

Nokia Eco-friendly Phone Functions on Coca-Cola… Don’t We all?
It’s been a while since we last saw an eco-friendly concept phone, specially one with the Nokia branding on it. Thankfully, we’ve stumbled upon the work of designer Daizi Zheng, the original device pictured below, an eco-friendly Nokia phone powered by sugary drinks.
One pack of sugary drink will include enough carbohydrates for your phone to work, also generating water and energy, when the battery dies. Bio batteries have the potential to work three to four times longer with a single charge, compared to the Lithium batteries used today.
The idea is brilliant, but what about the handset’s design? How would you feel, carrying such a flask in your pocket?
ASUS Waveface Ultra is the Bracelet Watchphone That Rocked CES 2010
There haven’t been too many concept handsets to gaze at during CES 2010, but one of the impressive devices was the ASUS Waveface Ultra, a bracelet watchphone pictured below. Waveface is in fact a series of concept devices, created by ASUS and including the Waveface Casa TV, the Waveface Light, a touch tablet and the Waveface Ultra watchphone.
ASUS Waveface Ultra is a wearable cellphone concept that can be worn around the wrist, just like a bracelet. This device is a pretty trendy accessory and it uses a flexible OLED display, being also based on gesture control and touch interface.
There’s also a cloud system supposed to work both with the watchphone and the tablet pictured below, that also features a flexible display. All of these devices, even the Casa TV, are able to access documents and all sorts of content via the platform setup by ASUS. A brilliant idea that we’ll hopefully see turned into reality, soon!
Google Tablet Runs Chrome OS, Only a Prototype for Now
If you’re the kind of person who waits for the Chrome OS as some sort of new wave of technology, we’ve got goodies for you: Google has just introduced a tablet or two, but these are only mockups. They’re meant to show the potential of the Chrome OS, mainly its cool interface.
Coincidence with the announcement of the Apple iPad? Certainly not, so it seems that Google doesn’t want to be left behind in this duel. The images were made available by Glen Murphy, Google’s Chrome UI lead designer and the interface will apparently be available on tablets with displays ranging from 5 to 10 inches in diagonal.
The Google Tablet seems bigger than the iPad, but certainly not huge like a portable Microsoft Surface, or something. Advantages? Multitasking, for starters… and probably better specs, plus a cheaper price. Don’t forget to have a look at the video below, showing the Google tablet in action.

Apple Black Hole Concept, the iPhone of 2020?
Designer Josselin Zaïgouche, who created the Zero Phone we’ve shown you half an year ago has now sent us an incredible design, the Apple Black Hole concept, possibly the iPhone of the year 2020. “What’s going to happen in 10 years” asks the designer and the answer should look something like this (click on images to enlarge):
As you can see, the Apple Black Hole comprises 4 components: the charging base, the Prism, the Black Hole and the giftbox. Things get interesting when you try to use the handset… its central ball will levitate when you open your hand and all functions will be controlled in mid-air, with the aid of holographic technology. How cool is that?
The Black Hole concept phone can be connected to the charging base and used as a desktop device, still projecting the needed interface. Brilliant? Yes! Viable? Maybe…
HOLO Mobile Computer Concept is a Holographic Device
We’ve seen bracelet phones before, but stuffing all the insides of a PC inside a tiny accessory to wear around your wrist is the stuff of dreams, honestly. This was done by Elodie Delassus, who created the beautiful HOLO mobile computer concept, that’s also a fancy bracelet to wear.
The French designer’s gadget bears the name “HOLO2.0″ and it provides Internet access, plus it’s made out of a flexible non-conductive, non-allergic and heat resistant material. Believe it or not, the interface of the concept is based on holograms, that are probably projected from the bracelet into the air, for the user to see and interact with.
HOLO also uses sound vibrations for instant alerts and the material it’s based on can change shape, according to the will of the user. Quite a piece of work, but this is the technology of the year 2020 or so, if you ask me…
